World Series Quilt Challenge: Eight Heavy Hitters Go Head-to Head to Fight Alzheimer’s

(Burton, Michigan)--May 4, 2010-- The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI) announces the lineup for the 2010 "World Series Quilt Challenge." Stepping up to the plate to support the AAQI's ongoing battle against Alzheimer's are two dream teams of internationally renowned quiltmakers.

Swinging their "batts" for the American Quilt League are veterans Hollis Chatelain, John Flynn, Becky Goldsmith, and Sue Nickels. (Their quilts raised more than $11,000 for the AAQI in 2009.)

On the roster for the National Quilt League are rookies Caryl Bryer Fallert, Judy Mathieson, Mary Sorensen, and Ricky Tims.

Each player hopes to knock one out of the park with a 16" x 16" quilt in the World Series Quilt Challenge. Quilts will be auctioned at www.AlzQuilts.org during the first 10 days of November in honor of Alzheimer's Awareness Month. All profits will fund Alzheimer's research. The team whose quilts raise the most money will be declared the Champions. Additionally an MVP award will go the individual player whose quilt earns the most money. Quilts will be available for viewing at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, November 3-7.

Fans can root for their favorite players now at www.AlzQuilts.org/wsqc.html.
