Hand pieced. (Just try and figure out how Mary did it.) Mary? You bet! Mary White embroidered her name in one of the blocks.
This quilt is filled with wonderful old fabrics, some of which look like old feed sacks. Many patches are "poverty pieced." It is heavily hand quilted. The binding is stitched down by machine. I love the homogeneous colors, all except for the one oddball block in the lower left corner.
The quilt is in good shape except for seams coming apart in the upper right hand corner.
This quilt earned $85 for the AAQI.
