Shawnee Quilters guild was formed in 1986 and we currently have about 80 members from across southern Illinois and one member who lives in the Netherlands.
In 1997 we adopted a sister guild, Wyndham Patchworkers, from Victoria, Australia.
Our charity project, Kids Quilts, donates at least 100 quilts a year to charities that serve children. Last year our board decided to participate in the Priority: Alzheimer Quilt project by issuing a challenge to members to make a quilt for display at our annual show at Harrah's Hotel in Metropolis, Illinois. The show coincides with the AQS Show in Paducah (Metropolis is only 7 miles from Paducah).
Our sister guild the Wyndham Patchworkers sent 8 quilts for the show. Viewers exhibited a very enthusiastic response and several indicated that they wanted to get their own guilds involved in making Priority: Alzheimer Quilts.
Our quilts are numbers 5093 through 5137. The quilts made by Wyndham Patchworkers are numbers 5102, 5107, 5110, 5111, 5123, 5124, 5125, 5128.
