Pride of the Prairie Quilt Guild from Plainfield, IL decided to make the Priority: Alzheimer's Quilt project as one of our philanthropy projects this year. We chose the AAQI quilt challenge for several reasons. First of all, many of our members have been touched by Alzheimer's disease making the project a good fit for us. It was also an easy project to work on as a group - requiring only a few supplies and leaving lots of room for discussion, making it a great group building project. Finally, we also felt it was a stimulating and fun project which stretched everyone's (from the seasoned quilter's to the brand-new quilter's) comfort zone by encouraging all quilters to try something new. In fact, everyone who participated enjoyed the project. Since the AAQI is so well organized, we are now enjoying following our quilts as these pieces of art move through the process on their way to being sold.
