Statement: One fateful day surfing the web I ventured onto www.alzquilts.org and passed it on to mother (Jannett Caldwell). I thought she would enjoy it because she is truly an artist who happens to love to quilt for a cause. I began by reading books in facination but not actually practicing the art. Mom asked me to come to see the quilts in her guild's quilt show. I agreed. I mentioned to mom how I had found hand stitching to be therapeutic for me. She asked if I wanted to take an applique class. I finished the quilt which I began at that class. Time passed. I went as a guest to the guild meeting, another quilt show, a trip to the fabric shop. There was no turning back. I enjoy quilting as an outlet for creativity, charity and a way to make memories with my mom. We spend alot of time working on projects for AAQI. It just seemed time to join the challenge as well. So ironic that fate has led this rebellious spirit to somehow happily follow in my mother's footsteps. Quilting and AAQI have brought us together. Holding us together until we remember no more.
