Gay Young Ousley (Abilene, TX)Gay Young Ousley
taught herself to sew at age nine on an old treadle machine in the basement and she never looked back. After working her way through clothing and traditional quilts, Gay became intrigued with art quilts. Now her days are filled with fabric, dyes, paints, fusible web, and decorative threads. Her work has appeared in national shows and publications and she enjoys sharing her skills through workshops and presentations.
Of all Gay's accomplishments, the one she talks about first is having a quilt selected for each of the traveling exhibits sponsored by the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative, "Alzhimer's: Forgetting Piece by Piece" and "Alzheimer's Illustrated: From Heartbreak to Hope."
Gay is a member of Studio Art Quilts Associates (SAQA), The Art Quilt Association (AQuA), and the Surface Design Association (SDA).
