Designer: Becky Goldsmith. Reduced version of "Passion Flowers" from Appliqué Outside the Lines, by Piece O' Cake Designs, c.2009; pg. 13 – 17.
Materials/Techniques: 100% cotton fabric and thread, bamboo batting; hand appliqué, machine quilting.
Artist's Statement: Sue Nickels, John Flynn, and Hollis Chatelain and I have challenged each other to make a miniature to see who can raise the most money in a head-to-head, quilter's smackdown auction! Besides being competitive by nature, I am especially motivated by the fact that my father-in-law has Alzheimer's. As I watch him deteriorating I can see just how awful this disease is. No one should have to go through this. My quilt is a miniature reproduction of the quilt, Passion Flowers, that I made for our book, Appliqué Outside the Lines. My mini is as true a copy of the original quilt as I could make it. I hope you love it and want it enough to bid a lot for it!

This quilt is displayed with a traditional sleeve.
This quilt earned $2,500 for the AAQI.
