Materials/Techniques: Purple bandana and "white" cloth hand carried up to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro by Jean Barnas Haratsaris during the 2006 "Ascent for Alzheimer's."
Artist's Statement: It was a privilege to honor these climbers who worked so hard to increase awareness of Alzheimer's disease and to honor their sponsors who donated so generously to support them.
Dedication: Hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro was one of the most challenging experiences in my life," said Haratsaris. "Knowing that I was raising awareness about dementia at a global level and raising funds at my local level really kept me going. I also hiked in honor of my Grandma who has dementia.
