Judy Leathers (Pelham, AL)
Judy was new to quilting when she read a 2006 article about the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative's quest for art quilts. She donated her first quilt in honor of mother-in-law, Frances, an Alzheimer's patient. This led to a new and exciting field which has become her main focus. Judy enjoys all aspects of quilting including learning and experimenting with new techniques. Fabric portraits are her current favorite and dogs are her preferred subjects. Judy, a movie buff, enjoys reading, decorating, studying art and supporting Bama's Crimson Tide championship football team.
Judy and her husband, Don, live in Alabama with their Brittany spaniel, Bobby McGee. Their son, Stephen, and his wife, Beth, live nearby with "world's greatest grand dog" — Bandit. Both dogs model for Judy's quilts.
