Statement: I’ve always been a charity crafter, rarely keeping anything I’ve made. My mom is an amazing lap quilter, and I wanted to learn too, so I finally took a beginner’s class. Not long after, I found the book "Quilting for Peace," and it was just logical for me to buy it, as I already had made a few projects in its companion book, “Knitting for Peace.”

I saw the Priority Alzheimer’s Quilt in that book, and thought of my Aunt Winnie who suffered with Alzheimer’s for years before she passed. Only several months later, when my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, did it really become a project that moved to the top of my list. He's finally hitting the point now where it's obvious that the disease is progressing. It's hard, especially for a daddy's girl like me. That's when I decided it was time to get busy and start quilting for AAQI.

I don't ever want my kids to have to deal with this disease—it’s just horrendous. If there is anything I can do to spare them from this, I'll do it. Maybe a dollar or two from my quilts can join with another dollar or two and one day, make a real difference in fighting this heartbreaking disease
