The
Dallas Area Fiber Artists(DAFA) 2012 AAQI Challenge theme was "Pathways." Various artists contributed 43 quilts, which have been displayed at the Quilters Guild of Dallas 2012 Dallas Quilt Celebration and DAFA's 2012 Annual Members Show at The Point Art Center.
Many of our members have experienced Alzheimer's personally through family members and close friends. The idea of contributing to the AAQI was embraced by those who were eager to show their support of this great project. The theme of "Pathways" was selected as a vehicle to demonstrate the many pathways we take through this confusing maze from diagnostic despair to hope through research and perhaps one day a cure.
We are a non-profit organization, which promotes fiber arts and artists through education, workshops, style shows and annual exhibitions. Our members are enthusiastic, creative people who explore and expand all facets of fiber arts.
Monthly programs include lectures and demonstrations by professionals on varied subjects such as: stitchery, fabric painting, fabric manipulation, papermaking, paper and fabric collage, garment design, fiber jewelry, beading, altered books, free-form crochet and other aspects of fiber techniques and art.
DAFA meets the 4th Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at The Point, Center for Arts and Education on the campus of C.C. Young Retirement Community, 4829 Lawther West, in Dallas, Texas.
