Members of the
Beach Cities Quilters Guild first saw the AAQI quilts at the International Quilt Show held each year in Houston. The project was presented to the board and overwhelmingly approved as a key philanthropy project for the entire guild. Many members have close family and friends that have been stricken with Alzheimer’s and wanted to contribute. The Alzheimer’s group within the Philanthropy group presents a new fiber art technique at the monthly AAQI demo. Members learn a new skill while making a donation for a great cause.
Beach Cities Quilters Guild consists of over 400 members. The Philanthropy group within the guild makes about 500 quilts a year for people in Orange County, California, who are struggling in shelters, with addictions, cancer and poor health. They also give to the United States Marine Corps/Camp Pendleton’s baby showers and support other military groups. Supporting AAQI is an extension of the heartfelt commitment Beach Cities Quilters Guild members make to the community each year.
