Materials/Techniques: I used batiks and commercial cottons. The flower is appliquéd to a pieced background using Louisa Smith's Strips 'n Curves technique, and the quilting is done with decorative stitches by machine.

Artist Statement: In Alabama, as in so many states we are all wondering what happened to Spring this year. The heat of summer came early and resulted in stunning landscapes of beautiful flowers and trees all blooming at once.
