Width: 8" Length: 10.5"

Designer: Original design

Materials/Techniques: This quilt was inspired by the techniques in Jean Well's book, Intuitive Color and Design, which features gentle curves, narrow inserts and detail piecing.

Artist Statement: The purpose of the quilt is to honor and celebrate the life of great-grandma Dorriene Cuyler, who had Alzheimer’s. Shortly after Dorriene passed away, her great-grandson, Charlie, was born and the profits from the sale of this quilt, which will be used for Alzheimer’s research, will give Charlie and Dorriene's other descendants the opportunity of a healthier and brighter future. There are two parts to this quilt: the top and lower half. The top part represents tranquility, while the lower part represents Dorriene whose house is now in order and the Alzheimer’s is gone. The lower left represents Dorriene's great-grandson, Charlie, whose journey through life is just beginning, and who has the opportunity because of funds gathered from this quilt and others, to have a life free from Alzheimer’s.

Dedication: This celebration quilt is dedicated to Dorriene Cuyler, a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, whose memory will live on giving serenity to her family.

This quilt has a Hanging Ring.

This quilt earned $45 for the AAQI.
