Designer: Original designMaterials/Techniques: Made from cotton fabric with machine applique. Lotus design based on public domain clip art obtained from www.clipart.com.
Artist Statement: From out of the mud and muck at the bottom of the pond, the lotus rises and presents us with a beautiful blossom. The blue lotus symbolizes wisdom in Buddhist cultures and it is my hope that in the same way that the lotus rises out of the murkiness, that our knowledge about this horrible affliction will one day become clear. Although it is usually represented as a partially open bud, I have chosen to depict it fully open to represent full knowledge someday.
