Artist Statement: Tau is a Greek and a Hebrew letter, also the shape of the St. Francis Cross. New research suggests that tau tangles are the mechanism for Alzheimer's to spread from cell to cell. Our thoughts, emotions, actions swirl in our brains, out of left field they become disjointed, disconnected, blank. Tau tangles are part of the disease but remember St. Francis' Tau Cross which symbolizes compassion for those who can't speak for or help themselves.
