Artist Statement: We are doing a guild challenge, the shape of the quilt must be a heart. To help get our guild members creative minds spinning we made a few examples of heart shape quilts...in the AAQI format! Yes, double duty. My friend P. Dean said, "Hey the top of the heart looks like a whale tail to me!" So I grabbed some of my favorite blue fabrics, drew up a paper pieced whale tail and went to work. I painted a sky and sea on one piece of fabric, and then sewed up the whale tale separately. I quilted each one individually, and then put them together to create a 3-D design. I hope you will love the whale as I do!

Dedication: With love to the folks that put mom in a nursing home yesterday because she has Alzheimer's.
