Materials/Techniques: The sky is paper pieced, the birds and flowers are fusible appliqué. The sky was machine quilted before the birds were added and the birds are edged with satin stitch.

Artist Statement: The quilt was inspired by the gospel hymn, “I'll Fly Away”. It sounded like such a beautiful promise that, in the end, we will leave all suffering and pain behind.
