Materials/Techniques: Cotton hand dyed fabrics in yellow, orange and black were used in a concentric manner. Gold and silver metallic threads were used to outline the Mali appliqué and Niger River. Variegated thread enhanced the native patterns on the fabric.

Artist Statement: Hand dyed fabrics from Mali were used to make this quilt in honor of their country. A map of Mali, surrounded by beautiful native fabrics, was embellished with variegated and metallic threads. See episode #505 of “The Quilt Show”.

Dedication: This quilt is dedicated to my mom. I still feel her love today although Alzheimer’s took her away long before the universe took her home.
