Harrogate, United Kingdom
Width: 8.75" Length: 11"
Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabric, poly-cotton fabric, satin ribbon, synthetic lace. The batting is synthetic. The quilting is done with DMC embroidery thread and the stabilizing edge quilting is stitched with rainbow cotton quilting thread. The quilt is not quite a true rectangle as the dimensions shifted during construction. The quilt was entirely created by hand.
Artist Statement: I wanted to explore the contrast between different textures and fabrics, using non-matching stray scrap lengths of fabric. The whole thing began as an even shaped rectangle and slowly evolved into a different shape, reminding me of how Alzheimer’s changes the person you once were. I then considered that many of life's patterns both circle round and expand and contract
Dedication: To the many people out there who are living, coping or indeed waiting for this dreadful affliction to affect their lives.
This quilt has a Plain Back.
