Width: 9" Length: 10.25"
Designer: Carolyn Barrani, Cross-Stitch and & Needlework Magazine, Nov. 2009, pg. 46, used with written permission.Materials/Techniques: A hand embroidered teal Dragonfly 'flies' from corner to corner of the center beige fabric. Its checkerboard wing floss includes a strand of silver thread. The wings outlines and antenna are made from the new memory thread. The segments of the long body and eyes feature sparkly jewels. The stippled background makes the dragonfly more prominent. A narrow gold piping divides the background from the teal border, and a darker teal binding completes the quilt.
Artist Statement: This is the second quilt using this pattern but I changed the color. It reminds me to be creative and to 'fly free' as research scientists do to find new cures for illnesses.
