Materials/Techniques: I used cotton fabric for the front and back of this quilt, with polyester batting in the center. The flowers on the hat were all crocheted in one evening and sewn on over a hand-painted black and white preprinted fabric that was cut in the shape of a hat. The face and neck are sewn to the black background fabric. The dark green crocheted leaves have seed beads sewn on them and the flowers have the Scribbles Crystal Glittering in their centers. The heart on the side of her cheek represents the love I will always feel for my mom.
Artist Statement: I had fun with this little lady. I did not give her eyes because it reminds me of two time periods of my mother's life. In the early 20's when she was still in high school, and later in life when she had progressed with this disease and had that totally blank stare.
Dedication: To those who are gone, but are not, by a long shot, forgotten.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $145 for the AAQI.
