Macomb, IL USA
Width: 8.5" Length: 10.5"
Materials/Techniques: The main fabric used was Balloon Race by David Carter Brown with other cotton fabrics to form the paper pieced balloon logo. Silver cording was used for the balloon ropes. The word "HOPE" was placed in a cloud using Gesso (white paint used to prime canvases) to paint on the fabric. Wool batting and Fast-to-Fuse make up the middle layer of the quilt, and it was machine quilted.
Artist Statement: I used part of the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative logo to make the hot air balloon in flight bringing hope to all those who have been touched by Alzheimer's.
Dedication: Dedicated to my young Swedish second cousin, Carl Henrik Stangenberg.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $65 for the AAQI.
