Materials/Techniques: Pieced background, hand-embroidered "is in the air", flower stems and bird nest. Raw-edge appliqu� "spring" machine stitched using variegated thread. Appliqu�s were created using felted wool and hand-embroidery with multiple beads. I used a Fabrico pen to draw the umbrella handle. Meander machine quilting, finished with a triple border and binding.

Artist Statement: Though I try to practice "living in the present moment", for a split-second, thoughts of spring crept in when our temperature dipped into the 20's. Well, a split-second turned into days as my mind ran away with creation of this quilt!
