Designer: Original designMaterials/Techniques: 100% cottons, pieced, layered and stitched, to create this design of a hummingbird drinking from a gorgeous red flower. Then it is layered with cotton batting and a thin muslin layer and quilted. This is then adhered to a Peltex backing which is fusible on two sides. Muslin is fused on the back for the writing area. Satin stitching is used to finish the edges.
Artist Statement: I love making fabric postcards and I love my older sister, once an artist herself, who now has Alzheimer's. The hummingbird has a difficult journey twice a year to continue its life. An Alzheimer's patient has a daily journey to try to grasp details of his/her life.
