Odem, TX USA
Width: 7.5" Length: 11.5"
Materials/Techniques: The centerpiece of H'mong reverse applique is beautifully stitched with batik teals and pink on a purple background. Exquisitely small dots of thread are embroidered in the channels. I added pink stitching and piping and a purple binding to compliment the centerpiece. This quilt is the most beautiful in a bright light.
Artist Statement: An interest in peoples and cultures, ancient to modern, reflect my self-image - the theme for this month. At the Houston Quilt Festival I purchased the central applique piece from Thailand. The backing fabric from India, threads from Switzerland, Italy, and Spain and the batting from the USA. They all combine to make this small quilt a One World creation.
Dedication: This quilt is dedicated to the Thai people who preserve traditional hand skills.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $75 for the AAQI.
