Designer: Original designMaterials/Techniques: Cotton scraps sewn together in a crazy quilt style, then quilted with fun edgings by machine or with embroidery stitches by hand. The yo-yo was a last-minute addition to create a bit of balance.
Artist Statement: The recent Empire QuiltFest, held in October 2011 in upstate New York, had a theme of "When Life Hands You Scraps." My response to that challenge was this quilt. "Number 20 for AAQI" is exactly that-- the 20th group of scraps that have found themselves worked into a donation quilt for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. After two years, I am well on my way to meeting my $1000 Promise goal and am thrilled to see where my work for AAQI has taken my creativity and me.
