Width: 8.25" Length: 10.5"
Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabrics with machine quilting. Silhouettes reminiscent of the children on school crossing signs of my childhood were machine-appliquéd.
Artist Statement: I was inspired by the fabric given to me by Elizabeth Minnis of Oklahoma, which contains many little symbols of childhood. I started this quilt around Labor Day, when children were returning to school. I am grateful to Carol Vance of Indiana and Artha Keeter of North Carolina for donating other fabrics used in making this AAQI quilt.
