Laura Keyes Perry
Roanoke, VA USA
Width: 7.75" Length: 9"
Materials/Techniques: Hand-embroidered title, machine-quilted squares, hand-sewn buttons. This quilt contains fabric kindly donated by Doris Messimer and buttons from Tammy Smith and Maria Gamache. I am thankful for their help.
Artist Statement: A student at DePauw University told me that he loved college because it was the first place he'd met a lot of people who -- like him -- enjoyed classical music and talked about ideas. All his life till then, he said, he'd felt like a kid in the "Sesame Street" song -- "One of these kids is not like the others."

Dedication: Dedicated to the "ugly ducklings" who sometimes have trouble realizing they are really swans.
This quilt has a Hanging Ring.
