Materials/Techniques: Log cabin blocks are made from reds, pinks, white and light beige fabrics. The colored fabric is some of the very last bits of that I received from Beth Hartford as a prize for meeting the $1000 Promise challenge. I quilted with clear thread. The large heart design is shown in several books on log cabins. The center heart, I cobbled up to fill in the center. Lace on the top and bottom is probably handmade and was cut from a piece obtained at an estate sale many years ago.
Artist Statement: The name of this Valentine quilt mimics the little messages on candy hearts given to loved ones on St Valentine's Day. These have been around for many, many years, as I remember them fondly from my childhood, though the title almost looks like one of today's text messages.
