Materials/Techniques: This quilt was made with 100% cotton for top and back, with synthetic batting. It was machine pieced and machine quilted on my 60-year-old Singer sewing machine. The inspiration for this quilt was a book illustration of an antique Amish crib quilt in black, red and cream.
Artist Statement: 'Tis a gift to be simple. I love Amish designs for their purity and clarity and straightforwardness! But I'm not Amish and I don't live a simple life, so I use patterned fabric and play the simple and the complex against each other.
Dedication: I've watched several families struggle with a beloved family member who has dementia; I know how wearing it is. My goal in making little quilts is to help those families, now and in the future, by funding research. So my work is dedicated to the families and friends of the patients, especially Andy's golfing buddies, who get him out on the course at least once a week, all summer long!
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $41.29 for the AAQI.
