Width: 8.5" Length: 11"
Materials/Techniques: Experimental painting on fabric with thick and thin Setacolor paint, later embellished with Angelina fibers. Quilting was done free motion, using metallic threads.
Artist Statement: I have played a lot with paint on fabric: using it thinly and allowing it to run, and using it thickly so that it will not. This piece was one of several where I experimented and then allowed it to lead me to its conclusion. Once complete it reminds me of the rain with the rainbows, the puddles and the glitz of the light on water.
Dedication: My mother was an artist and a teacher and spent most of her life learning new things and teaching others. She is the one who instilled in me the need to keep trying new techniques and mediums. I believe that she would have enjoyed watching this piece develop. She died several years ago from Alzheimer's Disease and by my continuing to support AAQI I believe that she remains closer to me today.
This quilt has a Split Sleeve.
This quilt earned $64.23 for the AAQI.
