Width: 9" Length: 11.75"
Materials/Techniques: Printed fabric collage technique, machine quilted, fusible web, two styles of crystal beads, cotton batting, monofilament and cotton thread, personally dyed fabric used on the back and hand sewn binding.
Artist Statement: The hard winter freeze of the Iowa climate produces the most beautiful peonies in spring. The peonies bloom near Memorial Day and are frequently used in bouquets that are left at the cemetery. A peony must have ants to thrive and while this may cause problems when peonies are used as a centerpiece, they are perfect for the gravesite. When I saw this decorator fabric, I knew I needed to make a quilt to honor the Alzheimer's patients who have gone before us.
