Sonia Callahan
Piedmont, CA USA
Width: 9" Length: 9.75"
Materials/Techniques: Printed fabric, collage, fusible web, cotton fabric, machine pieced and machine quilted, cotton batting, cotton and monofilament thread.
Artist Statement: “Oooolala,” or “huba huba” is what the boys would say when they got a gander at this gal back in the early 1940"s. It was not unusual for this "pin-up girl" to appear on the inside of a soldier's locker during World War II. Often images like this were drawn on the sides of airplanes flown by the military. This wall quilt was my opportunity to visit with a bit of memory and history.

Dedication: To all the fly boys who have defended our borders.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
