Artist Statement: In thinking about this disease I kept coming back to two ideas. Alzheimer's mostly affects people who are sometimes referred to as being in the winter of their life. It seems to wipe away the form and structure of their life. I kept picturing a strange winter where the beautiful patterns of life drift off into formless static. That is what I tried to represent with my little quilt.
