Earamichia Brown
New York, NY USA
Width: 8.675" Length: 11.5"
Materials/Techniques: Fabric, fabric pen, the main body of the quilt was made using the 15 minutes of play blog made fabric technique. I heard about a mosaic style quilting and decided to do my take on what that is. I appliquéd each piece of fabric, fabric created from scraps to create new fabric.
Artist Statement: I am a member of NYC Metro Mod Quilters, and am also a participant on Victoria Findlay Wolfe's "15 minutes of play" website. While on the site I saw the posting regarding AAQI. I was moved to create one, and liked the idea of using the techniques featured and learned on the 15 Minutes of Play blog. I thought about what I would create. I decided to do a profile of a head because of how the disease affects the mind. I started sketching profiles and saved it to my flash drive. It was then that I thought about how we use USB drives to store information, and was also known as a memory stick. I then decided to incorporate the USB to symbolize the affect the disease has on the brain.
