Width: 8" Length: 11.5"
Materials/Techniques: Equilateral triangles about 5/8 inches high, arranged by color into a star design. Various fabrics, some more successful than others, quilted around color changes with clear thread. The design is one I had made many years ago to use as a backing for quilts. Several were made, mostly with scraps cut in about 3 to 4 inch triangles.
Artist Statement: Children are good about asking questions. “Why?” is one they delight in, and giving a reasonable answer is not always convenient, or even possible. After I started piecing the triangles I had cut, I began to wonder WHY I had even thought of trying to do this. Piecing was confusing, and when the rows began to be sewed together and points needed matching, they bristled with pins. The number of “adjustments” required was just about as high as the 520 triangles in the quilt. Now the quilt is finished and still there is no answer to my question, WHY?
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $45.88 for the AAQI.
