Artist Statement: I really like the mariner's compass. I always think of sailors finding their way in the dark using the stars as a guide with the aid of a compass. It is so difficult to watch people we love get so lost inside the sea of their own brain with Alzheimer's. I like to think that some of the research being done is helping to develop new compasses that will help people find their way again.
