Materials/Techniques: Vintage buttons on velveteen squares in a "tic-tac-toe" pattern. In this one, gold buttons and silver buttons have played to a draw.

Artist Statement: I have always liked buttons, and it may be hereditary. My aunt (born in 1915) gave me a jar full of old buttons. She told me that her mother (born in 1881) used to remove the buttons she liked and replace them with plainer ones before giving garments to charity! She sewed most of her daughters' clothes, and some buttons would reappear 3 or 4 times, old friends on a new dress.
