Materials/Techniques: Patches of cotton and cotton blends, decorated with a rickrack star and machine-quilted with red and blue thread.

Artist Statement: I am fulfilling a "$1000 Promise" and making quilts of many different kinds. I have made a few of these pieced flags, and I enjoy seeing how the fabrics blend together, just as Americans of many kinds join together to make one country. This time, I experimented with accenting the horizontal by using dual-needle quilting -- something of an adventure on a sewing machine almost 50 years old!
