Width: 12" Length: 9"
Materials/Techniques: The raccoon is thread-painted then appliqued on a background of commercial cotton fabrics. Free-motion quilting with tri-lobal poly thread completes the quilt. It has corner triangles for hanging.
Artist Statement: My sister has Alzheimer's disease and has recently moved to an Alzheimer's unit. Trying to help her over the past years has made me keenly aware of the damage of this disease both for the person affected and for those who love her. I made this quilt because it is something I can do to contribute to research on Alzheimer's disease.
Dedication: This quilt was made in honor of my sister. She has fought this disease with every fiber of her being, but, as always, the disease is winning. We have always been very close. Now she no longer knows my name.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $100 for the AAQI.
