Materials/Techniques: Commercial cottons, batiks, tie-dyed velvet, appliqué, free motion quilting.

Artist Statement: For AAQI's Quilt A Month challenge, I used black and white fabrics with one other color with folded but flat (her bangs) detail and included an alien theme. Astronaut Arno has landed on Mars and is shocked to learn that the little men are not a pure green as described, but rather a lovely sort of turquoise which matches her eyes.

Dedication: As we get older, we learn about more and more of our friends and family who are dealing with this disease. It seems never-ending at times but we constantly hear of new research, which offers hope, and we cling to that.
