Width: 9" Length: 12"
Materials/Techniques: Machine piecing, cotton fabrics, crystals.
Artist Statement: I like to make miniature quilts from traditional blocks and decided to try to make a lone star mini. It was fun to do and getting the points together is always a challenge. Using the different shades of purple was part of my design plan. Adding the Austrian crystals added the little shine points, hence I named it 'Always Sparkling'.
Dedication: I made Always Sparkling to support research for Alzheimer’s, and to honor my father who is a victim. Dad is 89 and his dementia continues to progress. I will always remember the 'sparkling laugh' with his constant teasing of me and my cousins as we were growing up, and then how he did the same to our daughter and the joy he created teasing her. Always Sparkling is for him and it was good for me to make this quilt to honor the star shine he used to have!
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $65 for the AAQI.
