Artist Statement: John Cannon, a member of our church, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He and June, his wife of 57 years, have lived here for 21 years. He moved to Aiken, SC after spending most of his career in the Army as part of the Army Corp of Engineers and as a math instructor at West Point. John has been very active in the community and his church but the Alzheimer’s has changed all of that. His memory loss has not changed his quiet gentle personality. June is still his primary caretaker and their many friends from the church and community continue to support them thru these difficult days.
