Artist Statement: Psychedelic Shadows -- AKA: What you do when you can’t find the right color fabric for a shadow. Just for fun and to challenge myself, I drew foundation pieced patterns for classic blocks casting a shadow. I did patterns for a shadowed ‘King’s Crown’; ‘Shoo Fly’; and ‘Turnstile’. This is the King’s Crown. They were intended to be a pretty print block casting a conventional shadow but I failed to find fabric for such a shadow. It was a case of, “What would happen if I …?”

Dedication: To Audrey Arno of Oklahoma, who wins the virtual “Most AAQI Quilts Made” title hands down -- more than 270 quilts submitted and $16.600 raised to date. Those numbers will have gone up by the time this dedication quilt is processed. Her quilts display diversity in design and a terrific sense of color.
