Width: 9" Length: 11.5"
Materials/Techniques: This is a collage technique, a bottom layer, batting, then muslin as my canvas - then I lay fabrics on top of the batting, and laying fabric on top, creating, in this case, a image of a vase of flowers in a cobblestone like background. There are a lot of stitches to stabilize the fabric, and after all the raw edges are stitched down, and everything is stitched, I throw it in the washer and dryer, and the shrinkage from this creates a wonderful texture. The binding is also raw edge stitched but all the stitching stabilizes the raw edges.
Artist Statement: I have been wanting to make a quilt for this very worthy cause and I plan to make more. This is such a worthy cause and I feel it is something I have to do, I know of too many people, including my own family members that have been affected with this disease, that I feel so compelled to do something for this worthy cause.
