Width: 8.5" Length: 12"
Materials/Techniques: Commercial cottons, hand painted cottons, lace, yo-yo flowers, raw edge fused, machine free motion quilted, and hand sewn flowers.
Artist Statement: The idea for the quilt came from the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. The color for February was red. I had drawn out a pattern for a vase of flowers. When I found out the color was red, I thought of my Grandmother. She taught me to quilt. She always said, "every quilt must have red.” So I placed the flowers in a red room. I wanted the flowers to stand out, so I chose yellow, my favorite color. I also wanted the flowers and lace to add texture to the quilt. The falling leaf represents the memories my Grandmother is losing from Alzheimer's.
