Designer: The butterfly is my original design. The technique was inspired by Julie Hirota's article in the January 2011 American Quilter magazine.

Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabrics, black polyester batting, raw edge fusible appliqué, free-motion quilting.

Artist Statement: I've been drawn to mosaics for years, with the intention of making one someday. Thanks to Julie Hirota's "Constructing a Mosaic Art Quilt" article in the January 2011 American Quilter magazine, I can now make mosaic quilts! This is my first, but I hope to make many more.
