La Selva Beach, CA USA
Width: 8.5" Length: 11.75"
Materials/Techniques: All cotton fabrics and batting, hand appliqué and machine quilting. Four fast finish triangles so that the quilt may be hung horizontally or vertically.
Artist Statement: Classic orange peel design, originated in the mid nineteenth century. Orange peel blocks are usually arranged to form closed circles. I was playing with the shapes and noticed I could leave the ends open, thus forming X's and O's, hugs and kisses. I am challenging myself to join the Quilt-a-Month Club until I fulfill the $1000 promise. I plan to use materials from my extensive stash and to try new techniques. The small size is a do-able project each month. This is a great win/win/win proposition. I extend my quilting skills, reduce my stash and raise money for research. Perfect.

Dedication: I dedicate this quilt to Paul J. Finegan, my terrific brother-in-law, who had early onset Alzheimer's. I send out my "Hugs & Kisses" to his wife, Pat Finegan, and all the other fabulous caregivers who give so much of themselves to provide a safe cocoon for Alzheimer's victims.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $70 for the AAQI.
