Candler, NC USA
Width: 12" Length: 9"
Materials/Techniques: Cotton quilting fabric, 6 colors (including backing). I used a basic postage stamp design, following the Priority Alzheimer's Quilt pattern from the book "Quilting for Peace."
Artist Statement: I have been an avid charity crafter for a few years now, usually by knitting. I made and donated a few projects from the book "Knitting for Peace." My mom is a quilter, and I wanted to learn, so I finally took a class to learn myself. I found "Quilting for Peace," and it was just logical for me to buy it. Only several months later, when my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, did it really become a project that moved to the top of my list. He's finally hitting the point now where it's obvious to us, the family, that the disease is progressing. It's hard, especially for a daddy's girl like me.
I don't ever want my kids to have to deal with this disease. If there is anything I can do to spare them from this, Ill do it. That's when I decided it was time to get busy and start quilting for AAQI. This is my first project, and I hope to provide many more.
Dedication: This is my very first AAQI project, and I would like to dedicate this to my dad, who was diagnosed just last year.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $40 for AAQI.
